Destiny's child- survivor
This music video is called survivor by Destiny's Child. The band that sing it are female, who are very succesful in the music busines. They are three extremely dominant, strong females that set and amazing example to all typical stereotypes about women. The music video does nothing but express how strong and powerful they are with many different codes and conventions representing the feminist theory throughout it. This music video is based in an isolated island with a beautiful beach and woodland, with the blazing sunshine. At first thoughts i thought this wanst very R&B however, what R&B often trys to conote is the royalty settings the expensive settings the things that other people cant do because their not quit as good as us. Beign on an isolated island is an accomplishment for anybody, this is why i believe that this is a good setting for them and it has a lot of iconography that relates to the music video and then R&B genre as a whole.

Neyo... Closer
This music video is by Neyo singing closer it has a very sophisticated link between the music and the video. With every movement, sound and beat all insink with oneanother, it does put everything we are going to have to do for our music video into perspective. This music video has a very fast pace to it, their is no eeryday settings as everyting is done with a green board and computer generated imagery.

Music video analysis

Choosing what msuic videos i was going to analyse was a difficult job, their are hundreds of differnt types of music videos that all have different ways in attracting the audience. Not to mension the different amounts of money and technology that is used to support the different videos. I have decided to use as much of a variety as i can, using different types of singers and bands, different types of music and diferent types of video's.

The final cover i analysed was of another girl group Destiny's child. This group were known as the best selling female R&B group of all time, being a grammy award winners and selling 50 million albums worldwide. They have been a huge success all over the world, showing how they are a powerfull, dominant, young successfull women, which was a very succesful portrail as people loved them, people loved what they represented for women. They are a typical feminist theory icon. I chose to anaylyse one of their covers because of everything they represent, the one i choose was one that i belived they didnt just look independent and strong but they also looked happy. I found the cover was generally quit a plain cover with dull colours and not much enthhusiasm about it however, this made the three band members stand out and look very bright and cheerfull.

This cover is selling a male artist that has been successful for almost 20 years, he has sold over 40 milllion albums world wide and won 5 grammy awards. We know him as Usher, the male solo artist with a massive successful career. This CD cover was harder to analyse than the others due to the back of the cover. I couldnt quit find a reason for why it had been set up in this way, then i slowley realised it was centering usher to the very middle of the cover, generally showing how important he is. One of the main conventions of the cover is how it is all about the glamour, fame , the bright lights and a genral theme of royalty. This all conotes how amazing this artist is, also feeding the audience with this story of how fanatastic this album and artist is.

This cover is another Music DVD cover, i have used this because i again i want to get a wide variety of different results for the research i am putting together on the R&B genre. This cover is for the Pussycat dollz, group of strong inderpendent women that have a very distinctive trait about them, this allows that to be unique in the market and as of yet their isant any other girl group that are quit like this group. This band has many top tens and a few no. 1s. They are a very popular girl group that has a massive audience targeting mainly women, however, they may be a girl group traditionally aimed at women but this group does have a large fan base of men also. This cover is the most sophisticated cover i have analysed, although it doesnt have many computer generated imagery the way everything has been put together such as mise en scene, the icongografy, the setting and characters used has all been very well presented. Allowing this cover to have a persuasive and attractive selling technique.
